Presentation
During the union general meeting of 2018, the Department of Private Education (Département Enseignement Privé – DEP) was created as the fourth department within the OGBL Education and Science Union (Syndikat Erzéiung a Wëssenschaft – SEW).
The SEW/OGBL DEP is open to all categories of private school personnel, including teachers, student support staff, administrative and technical staff.
The OGBL is the only trade union present in the entire education system from basic school to higher education and in the research sector, both public and private, and can therefore guarantee an exchange between professionals of the different educational levels.
During the social elections of 2019, the OGBL has been able to strengthen its position in the private school sector. 96.66% of our candidates were elected (15 effective delegates and 14 substitutes). The OGBL is represented within the staff delegations of Vauban, Ecole et Lycée français de Luxembourg, the European School Luxembourg II, the International School of Luxembourg and the Marie-Consolatrice School.
What is the action of the OGBL in the private education sector?
– Negotiation of collective bargaining agreements
The OGBL is the sole negotiator of the collective bargaining agreement for the staff of Vauban and spokesperson for the negotiations at the ISL. These collective agreements guarantee salary evolutions, better working conditions and extra-legal remunerations.
– Exchange of experience
The delegates of the OGBL intervene regularly with their respective management and board for questions of working conditions, organization and safety at work. The department offers them a platform for the exchange of experiences and thus facilitates their work.
– Individual support for employees
The OGBL staff delegates, with the support of the central secretary/secretaries responsible for the department, are at the side of the employees of the sector on a daily basis, for all problems related to their employment, working conditions and remuneration, and are committed to defending their individual and collective rights.
